The Gazette of the United States was a Federalist newspaper in the years of the First Congress. Begun by John Fenno, who served as its editor, the Gazette was published twice weekly, beginning on April 15, 1789. Alexander Hamilton contributed to the paper, both financially and in written content. Senate Secretary Samuel Otis would eventual go on to contract with Fenno to publish various documents for the Senate.

From the mid-1980s, John, now Lord, Alderdice, was intimately involved in the Irish peace process. His archive spans more than thirty years of negotiation and implementation, from his early days in the Alliance Party in the 1980s, through his leadership of the party during several phases of multi-party talks in the 1990s, to the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement during his time as the first Speaker of the new Northern Ireland Assembly. It also includes a small section on the Sunningdale Conference, inherited from previous party leaders, as a testimony to the origins of the 1998 Agreement. The documents which can be viewed in this resource collection were used to model Brooke/Mayhew talks and span the period from 1985 to 1992. They are also contained in the John Alderdice Collection, which includes all the documents digitized by Quill. These documents were scanned and digitized by Ruth Murray, Harriet Carter, Sofia Panourgias and Annabel Harris.

This collection comprises a selection of the papers of Senator George J. Mitchell, held at the George J. Mitchell Special Collection and Archives at Bowdoin College Library. All of the papers displayed here are taken from Subseries 2 of the Northern Ireland series (M202.7.2), which contains Senator Mitchell's papers from the period 1995–1998, relating to his work as Chairman first of the International Body on Arms Decommissioning, and then of the 1996–1998 Multi-Party Talks which resulted in the Good Friday Agreement. The first part of the collection is a curated collection, compiled by Dr Shelley Deane. The documents are taken from Boxes 863 and 864, and include a series of drafts of the report of the International Body. The second part of the collection includes a wide range of folders from Boxes 910, 911 and 912. These include the bulk of Senator Mitchell's copies of official papers pertaining to the 1996–1998 negotiations and his copies of the official minutes. This collection of treaties, agreements, legislation, and joint statements relating to the status of Northern Ireland was commissioned by ARINS. The primary source materials in this resource collection were compiled by Harriet Carter and Ruth Murray, and are currently being used to construct a digital model of the Peace Process which will enable users to better understand the context within which key decisions and compromises were made, the origins of particular phrases, and the developing roles of individuals and political parties.

Monica McWilliams is Emeritus Professor in the Transitional Justice Institute at Ulster University, and has campaigned tirelessly for peace and human rights in both Northern Ireland and the wider world for more than four decades. As co-founder of the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition (NIWC), she was elected to the Multi-Party Talks in 1996 at a key juncture in the peace negotiations. The section of her archive digitized as part of this project focuses on the negotiation of the Good Friday Agreement (1996-1998) and the process of implementation during Professor McWilliams's time as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (1998-2003).

The digitization of the Monica McWilliams Collection is a partnership with Queen's University. The physical archive is housed in the McClay Library, along with wider records of the NIWC and Professor McWilliams’s work with the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission.

The Forum for Political Dialogue met between 1996 and 1998 in Belfast alongside the negotiations that led to the Good Friday Agreement. The Records of Debate were originally posted on the Forum's website, which has since been archived. Lord Alderdice later commissioned print versions of the records. The structure of this Collection is taken from the six printed volumes of the Record of Debate and follows the divisions therein.

This collection is one box (P254) from a larger selection of Dermot Nally's papers held in the University College Dublin Archives. The documents in the box relate to the development of the Downing Street Joint Declaration, made by the British and Irish Governments in 1993. Dermot Nally led the Irish government team during the negotiations. The collection was digitized in July 2023 by Kate Manning, the Principal Archivist at UCD, and the catalogue was written by Niamh Collins.

This collection contains the correspondence and exchange of papers that took place between the SDLP and Sinn Féin in 1988. The original documents are held in the Linen Hall Library in Belfast, and the Quill project is very grateful to the Linen Hall for providing us with scans of the material. The same papers are also available as transcriptions on the Sinn Féin website. There are some minor differences between the transcriptions and the documents pictured in Linen Hall. Most of these errors could be down to simple errors of transcription.

A selection of material relating to the Northern Irish Peace Process scanned at The National Archives of the UK. The files are mainly taken from the CJ 4 series (Northern Ireland Office records) and the PREM series (Office of the Prime Minister records). The organization of the files reflects their physical location within the Archive at Kew.

This collection contains documents held by the National Archives of Ireland (NAI) relating to the peace process in Northern Ireland. It currently comprises a small selection of files from the Office of the Taoiseach, the Deparment of Justice and the Department of Foreign Affairs, all dating from 1996–1998. The National Archives of Ireland have kindly granted the Quill Project interim permission to publish our research scans, despite not meeting their usual reproduction standards.

A summary of significant events outside of the negotiations modelled in Quill. At present this collection is under construction and is being tested with the Writing Peace Library Collection.

This collection comprises a selection of David Trimble's papers, held at McClay Library and Archives, Queen's University Belfast. The collection contains 13 lever arch files enclosing documents primarily pertaining to the 1996-1998 Multi-Party Talks, also known as the Mitchell Talks. As the leader of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) during these talks, David Trimble played a crucial role, and his papers reflect the broad range of issues discussed. The collection includes speeches, press releases, letters, records of meetings, party submissions, position papers, and negotiated drafts, with a significant focus on decommissioning and procedural matters, often discussed during the Opening Plenary Meetings. The collection does not follow a specific classification order. However, some boxes address precise issues, with papers related to Strand One of the talks in box 7, documents pertaining to Strand Two in boxes 8 and 11, and materials concerning Strand Three in box 9. Additionally, boxes 12 and 13 mainly comprise David Trimble's private correspondence, and therefore fall outside the scope of what we consider to be publishable online without further copyright permissions. For this reason, we have only been able to display a small selection of papers from box 12 which pertain directly to the talks, and no papers from box 13.

This collection contains digital scans of the Journals kept by the Second Continental Congress through the years 1774 to 1776, which have been edited, annotated, and published in 1906.

This is a collection of the different versions of the Irish Constitution (including a copy of the Irish Free State Constitution of 1922) from 1922 to 2020, as well as its multiple amending acts (1925 to 2014 only). A selection of Houses of the Oireachtas' debates is also included.

This collection presents the available digital scans of the sources listed in the appendices of Pauline Maier's book, American Scripture: Making the Declaration of Independence. The appendices are divided into three categories: A, B, and C.

Appendix A features a catalogue of state and local declarations of Independence, as compiled by Maier. Appendix B features a small selection of local resolutions on independence, many of which also appear in Appendix A.

Due to copyright restrictions, the contents of Appendix C do not feature in the collection. That appendix holds Maier's transcription of the Declaration of Independence with Congress' editorial changes.

This collection has been created to house four documents from Fr Alec Reid CSsR's papers held in the Redemptorist Dublin Province Archive. The reference code for the collection as a whole is RPAD/AR. The four papers are both taken from the subdivision of the collection dealing with Fr Reid's involvement in the Northern Ireland Peace Process (AR/2/3). The Quill Project has received permission from the Alec Reid Archival Advisory Board to publish digital copies of these documents. This agreement does not cover any re-publication or manipulation of these images. Further enquiries about the collection should be directed to the Redemptorist Dublin Province Archive, where the physical papers are held.

This collection contains a selection of documents related to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence. These include: the preamble of Jefferson's first and third draft of his proposed Virginia Constitution; the Rough Draft of the Declaration, which shows the various interlineations made by the authors; and the copy of the Declaration as transcribed by John Adams.
